Would you believe me if I told you this wasn’t a bride? Yeah, I wouldn’t believe it either! This girl is about to celebrate her Quinceanera in August, and I had the pleasure of taking her portraits for her big event! What you don’t know is approximately one minute before we started her session it was a torrential downpour here in Austin, TX. To say we were stressed was an understatement. She had gotten her hair and makeup professionally done, and was so perfectly primped in her gorgeous CLEAN white and blush gown…we didn’t want all of that to go to waste! We said a prayer, and after about 25 minutes of rain it cleared, and the sun came out just a shinin’! Unfortunately we had another issue…the grounds at Austin Botanical Gardens were drenched. SO. Her sweet mama, and one of my dear friends Maria, had the idea of using the sun protector from her car for Kailee to stand on to protect her dress! I’m not one to turn down a challenge, so we sure went for it.
We intentionally scoped out every area as we carefully walked along holding her dress high, and had developed a system to keep Kailee’s dress as dry and clean as possible! Maria would hold the dress, I would place the sun protector down right where I wanted Kailee to stand, Kailee would carefully place herself, and then with as much tulle as we could use, we’d cover the bright blue sun protector and we were ready to shoot! haha! Looking back it’s a little silly to think of those who were probably watching us, but hey- by looking at these pictures you’d have no. idea.
You’ve gotta make the most of the hand your dealt, and I think we did that and then some! Kailee was so sweet, and incredibly photogenic from every angle, which made my job easy! What a gorgeous girl.
