So here I am, in the beginning stages of building my business. Praying, hoping, waiting for a bride to reach out to me. I just needed one to take a chance on me since I didn’t have a portfolio of wedding work to prove myself yet. As I did every day, I’d go to my email inbox to see if I had an inquiries. Starting up a small business is rough, and most days there were crickets. One morning I pull up my inbox and what do I see!? An inquiry!? A wedding inquiry! My heart skipped a beat.
From the moment I started reading Naomi’s emails I could tell this girl was kind to her core. I was so grateful for her willingness to trust me and my craft, her heart to support my small budding business, and her sweet words of encouragement to me before ever even speaking to me in person. We hadn’t even met yet, and this girl was a dream bride. Joyful, sweet as can be, laid-back.
After talking with her it seemed we were a perfect fit! So, Aaron and I packed out bags and headed out west for their engagement session! This was my very first destination session! I was SO thrilled to go hang out with Chase and Naomi in the desert, and capture their love in all the dreamy warmth of the Arizona backdrops. I remember almost pinching myself when Chase and Naomi got out of the car. The sun was setting, they were dressed in the most beautiful outfits I could’ve asked for, and that was only the outward impression they made on me. What really struck me was the way they loved each other. The joyful spirit they couldn’t help but exude around one another. It was a dream session, really. We had so much fun together, and made countless beautiful images! They trusted me even when I was falling into cacti trying to get a shot. I’m from the mid-west people. I’m not used to everything down to the freaking tree branches being covered in THORNS.
Chase and Naomi met at the small college in Milwaukee, WI where they were both pursuing business degrees. They had a ton of classes together, and in one particular class Chase didn’t have a book that Naomi so conveniently had for him to borrow. 😉 Borrowing books turned into sitting together at student senate meetings, which turned into spending time together outside of school, aaaand I think you get where this is going. 😉
I am so thrilled to have the opportunity to capture their wedding this fall in Wisconsin. It’s going to be magic.
She knew he was the one before they even started dating. Looks like she was right.
